Competition Rules




1. The Competition is open to dancers and choreographers with professional experience.

2. The competition is open to groups with choreography containing 5 to 10 dancers. Only one leader per group will be allowed backstage and will have access in the practical organization of the event.

3. The competition is open exclusively to contemporary dance and urban dance (Hip Hop, Jazz Funk, Street Jazz).

4. Each choreographer can submit one choreography only.

5. The choreographer may dance his own choreography.

6. The choreography presented must be 5 to 10 minutes long.

7. A unique online video link to the choreography presented to the 2013 Competition must be mentioned in the registration form online (a recording of a rehearsal is acceptable) before May 5, 2013. No dvd or post mail will be accepted. The video should match the choreography to be danced in the finals at the Cirque d'Hiver. In this video, the choreography must be shown in full, to judge its length and its structure. The video clips are not accepted.

8. The works must have been choreographed in 2011 or later and must be free of all rights (music etc) to the finals on June 27, 2013. The Dance Center of the Marais retains all rights (photo, video) in the finals.

9. The people involved in the event of the finals competition must be available on June 26 at 18h (6pm) and for the rehearsal and performance of June 27, 2013 at 9:00 am. This also includes the availability of possible participation in radio and television interviews, press conferences, or any means of public relation for the Competition.
10. The main calendar Competition includes the following dates:

- May 5, 2013: deadline for registration. Date changed to May 15.
- May 15: announcement of 12 finalists. Date changed to May 20.
- June 1: deadline datasheets and CD music of finalists.
- June 26: arrival of all finalists in the day. Meeting at 18:00 hrs at Cirque d'hiver.
- June 27: 09:00 to 15:00 hrs, finalists rehearsals (30 minutes per group).
19:30 hrs: Start of the final competition.
- June 28: Departure of the candidates.

11. Competition results announced by the jury are final and cannot be discussed.

12. No salary/fees will be paid to participating dancers. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winning choreographers by the jury.

13. For the performance of the finals, a maximum of 3 lights is allowed; achieving these light effects is not guaranteed in the finals. Set decor and accessories are not allowed.

14. Each registration must be received, including a complete dossier, on the online registration form on the website of the Competition, before the deadline of May 5, 2013. A complete dossier includes:

- The application form completed and validated online
- The video link
- Specifications/details
- The certificate of parental consent for minors (under the national jurisdiction of competitors).
- The two-sided photocopies of identity cards or passports of choreographers. These documents will also be required from all finalists dancers with the technical sheets, before 1 June 2013.

15. The responsibility of the organizer shall not be liable for any injury, material or immaterial, caused to any person or itself, including candidates and chaperones during travel for the competition, during rehearsals and final and throughout the duration of the stay in Paris for the finals.

16. Candidates and all team members agree to give to the Dance Center of the Marais their full rights to image throughout the Competition Period.

17. Negligence of the above rules by a team member, will result in immediate disqualification of the team from the Competition of the Dance Center of the Marais.

18. Candidates must respect the timing of the event.
